Scriptures of Hope ~ When the Morning Stars Sang

"Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said; 'Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? To what were its foundations fastened?  Or who laid the cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

"'Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place?'

"'Have you entered the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in search of the depths? Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death? Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth? Tell Me, if you know all this.

"'Can  you lift up your voice to the clouds, that an abundance of water may cover you? Can you send out lightnings, that they may go, and say to you, "Here we are!"? Who has put wisdom in the mind? Or who has given understanding to the heart? Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can pour out the bottles of heaven, when the dust hardens in clumps, and the clods cling together?'"

"For I know that the Lord is great, and our Lord is above all gods. Whatever the Lord pleases He does, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all  deep places. He causes the water vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries."
~ Job 38:1,4,5-7,12,16-18,34-38 and Psalm 135:5-7

Are you in the midst of a whirlwind - a violent storm? Does it feel like you are staring "impossibility" in the face while it mocks you and taunts you with its fear and doubts? Then I encourage you, take a deep breath and read through these scriptures again. And then I encourage you to open your eyes to see the greatness of our God. He is beyond our comprehension. His power knows no bounds.

The next time you feel all alone in your struggles, turn your face towards the heavens. Focus on the One who made you and loves you. And, if you are blessed to feel a gentle breeze against your cheek, consider this: "He brings the wind out of His treasuries."

Even the wind obeys His voice.

Father God, You are so great! Why, or why do we worry? Forgive us for those times that we don't trust in You. Break the chains of anxiety that keep us bound. Open our eyes to see You, the God of possibility. You, Lord, are able! Your eyes roam to and from upon the earth seeking those who need to be strengthened. Help us to grasp the majesty of Your Name. Calm our restless hearts, Lord. Thank You. We love You so much. You are precious to us, Lord.

  1. Great post, Nan!! I was reading Job this morning!! :) Actually I've struggled to read it many times. Except for when the Lord speaks, I couldn't get what the commentators all said about it...then the Lord opened my eyes this morning and I get it now. How awesome the Holy Spirit visits us so often with the same scripture or thought!! Lvya!!

  2. Oh Nan, I loved this this morning! You know, we've heard so many times "the patience of Job." I don't think Job was patient. The things that strikes me every time I read the book of Job is that no matter what comes his way, he's determined to praise the Lord! "though they sleigh me, yet will I praise Him." Why aren't we like that? This should be an example to us all. Love you sweet friend!
