~ 2 Thessalonians 3:16, Amplified Study Bible
The following devotion spoke strongly to me last week. Sarah Young learned to sit quietly and listen to the Father as she sought to know Him. She began to record their time together in a prayer journal which became Jesus Calling. I pray the Holy Spirit will speak to you through her recorded message. After all, His Words are timeless and His sheep will know His voice.
"The Peace that I give you transcends your intellect. When most of your mental energy goes into efforts to figure things out, you are unable to receive this glorious gift. I look into your mind and see thoughts spinning round and round: going nowhere, accomplishing nothing. All the while, My Peace hovers over you, searching for a place to land.
Oh, dear one, open your heart to receive the peace of the Lord. No matter what this old world is throwing at you, our God is able. Let these words soak in: "I look into your mind and see thoughts spinning round and round: going nowhere, accomplishing nothing. All the while, My Peace hovers over you, searching for a place to land."
Father God, Open our eyes to see this image of You waiting for us to hush and be still long enough for You to intervene and cover us in Your peace. Why do we make it so hard? Why on earth do we think we can figure things out better than You? Forgive us Lord. Cleanse us of all unrighteousness. Calm us, Lord. Cause us to look up and see Your peace hovering over us waiting for a place to land. Now, that image can make me laugh and holy laughter always brings peace. We love You Lord.

Oh I love this message! His peace truly does hover over us! I have the picture in my mind of a mom at the side of her sick child. She hovers over that child until the sickness passes. That's the same with God, He hovers over us while we're in the storm...bringing us His peace when we can't seem to find any peace. Thank you so much for your sweet words. Love you!
ReplyDeleteJamie, that is a beautiful image of the mother hovering over the child. Thank you for sharing that. It adds extra meaning to this message.
DeleteWhat a sweet reminder to let your mind be free. Just to sit quietly without trying to make sense of everything. It is in these moments in which we hear our precious Father's gentle voice beaconing to us and drawing us to Him. Thanks for this. I needed peace in my mind today and just be. I love you.
ReplyDeleteI think sitting quietly before the Lord is a key to His Kingdom. How will we ever hear His instruction, His whispers, His heart if we are too busy to listen? It is such an easy concept but satan blinds us to its simplicity so that we remain in turmoil. Oh, Lord, teach me to wait, to sit, and to listen.
