Scriptures of Encouragement ~ Prisms of Great Love

by Nan Jones  @NanJonesAuthor

The treetops whipped in the wind, the blue of summer sky surrendered to a creeping gray - the darkness from clouds obliterating the sun. A storm was on the horizon. The dark clouds sounded the alarm. I watched from the refuge of my porch as the heavenly lesson unfolded.

I could smell the impending rain, its fragrance like fresh mowed grass. Clouds billowed overhead, darkening as the storm clouds grew, weighing heavy with rain. As sure as the sun hid behind the clouds, rain would fall from the storm.

God's grace is like that.

As sure as the storm clouds rise in our lives, as sure as they billow in shadowed darkness, the rain of God's grace will fall on His child to replenish her weary spirit. I'm convinced that for the child of God, every difficulty, every hurt and disappointment weighs heavy with the love of God waiting, standing ready with a supply of fresh grace - undeserved favor - because of His great love.

Our God is near to the brokenhearted.

The eyes of our God roam to and fro across the earth seeking those who need to be strengthened.

He is our refuge, our strong tower when the enemy assails.

God is strength to our weakness, joy to our sorrow, hope to our despair.

"O God, when You went out before Your people,
when You marched through the wilderness, the earth shook;
The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God;
Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
You, O God, sent a plentiful rain,
whereby You confirmed Your inheritance when it was weary.
Your congregation dwelt in it;
You, O God, provided from your goodness for the poor."
 ~ Psalm 67:7-10

When we are weary, poor in spirit, overwhelmed, God sends His plentiful rain to confirm us as His own. He will never leave us. He is in the dark clouds, the mighty wind. His Presence goes with us, and as naturally as the rain bursts from the darkening clouds, so His grace through the prisms of His great love flows.

Dear one, He is with us always.

  1. Such a comforting thought, "As sure as the storm clouds rise in our lives, as sure as they billow in shadowed darkness, the rain of God's grace will fall on His child to replenish her weary spirit." I love this. Thank you for the reminder of God's grace and peace no matter what our situation may be. May God give you the peace that passes all understanding today. Love you!

    1. Isn't it though? The Lord knows our needs and responds to them even as they unfold because of His great love. If only we could thoroughly grasp the reality of this. Thanks for your kind words. Love you too!
