Scriptures of Encouragement ~ Leave the Chaos Behind

by Nan Jones  @NanJonesAuthor

Flame-colored blooms teemed of glory as they stretched towards the sun. Each long stalk stood strong, determined to reach the heights in spite of the chaos erupting where leaves and stems met the earth. The long, graceful leaves of the day-lilies bunched and looped and fought for space in the garden, but regardless of the surrounding bedlam, their orange faces posed with mouths wide open, ready to be filled.

The Lord spoke to me through the day-lilies.

I believe the Lord would say to us, Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. Focus your gaze on Me, stretch away from the chaos with intention, with determination and I will not disappoint. I stand ready to fill you with good things. I stand ready to sustain you with life and joy and peace. Taste and see that the Lord is good! I AM the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt. I did not shove you. I did not crack a whip and herd you out of there. I brought you out, leading, guiding, caring for you. I will never leave you nor forsake you. You are Mine.

Beloved, your Heavenly Father cares deeply for you. He knows your pain, your worries. He knows everything there is to know about you.

And He loves you anyway.

I want to be like the day-lily. I want to stretch high above the chaos, the turmoil, and busyness of life - high enough that my face is turned towards heaven and I see the Lord face to face. And then with a heart of praise I want to open my mouth wide so He can fill it with His goodness.

"I AM the Lord your God,
who brought you out of the land of Egypt;
Open your mouth wide,
and I will fill it."
~ Psalm 81:10

  1. I love this: "I AM the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt. I did not shove you. I did not crack a whip and herd you out of there. I brought you out, leading, guiding, caring for you. I will never leave you nor forsake you. You are Mine."

Beautiful! We have tiger lilies, too, but the difference is you found a lesson in yours. :-)

  2. "Open your mouth wide and I will fill it". How often do we open our mouths wide and be filled with the things of this earth instead of the GOOD, TRUE, HONEST, LOVING things our Father has for us? Because as we taste and see that the Lord is good our minds are nourished with those virtuous things and we are renewed and refreshed and replenished with the good. And what we ingest, we spill out as well. Oh to taste and see to not only be filled but to be satisfied.

Great stuff Nan! I will be chewing on this today! Love you!

    1. Yes and amen, Marcie girl!! I love your thought about what we ingest, we spill out as well. So, so true...garbage in, garbage out. We need to get that in our knowers ;-)

  3. Hi Nan! I have some yellow and tiger lilies in my backyard, so I know what you are talking about. How I would love for the Lord to fill my mouth with his words, and words of praise that would make him happy. I really appreciated your words today.
    Blessings,
    Ceil
