Finding God's Presence ~ Just Like the Stars on A Country Road

by Nan Jones   @NanJonesAuthor

Along the country road, prisms of light shimmered against the inky wash of the evening sky. It seems the darker the night, the brighter the stars ... the farther from city clutter, the purer the light.

Isn't that true for us?

The darker the night of our soul, the brighter God's beacon of light shines guiding us to Him ... the more brilliant His glimmer of hope. But, if we don't step away from the clutter in our lives, the light of His Presence is not as clear. It appears diffused in the surrounding darkness. Dim. Even aloof.

Always remember ... God has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. Even if it feels like He has withdrawn from us, He is there. Strong. Mighty. Tender and beautiful.

Like the congestion of city lights disguising the brilliance of the stars, clutter in our lives diminishes the glory of the Lord, causing us to feel alone in our pain.

In His wisdom, the Lord instructs us to be still ... cease striving ... and remember that He is God. To be still we must get away from the clutter. Rest in Him. Find refuge in the shadow beneath His wing.

And remember, in our darkness He is ever present ... just like the stars on a country road.

Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
    in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens,
    the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
~ Psalm 8:1-4, NIV

"What am I that the Creator should call me His child? Oh! What a beautiful God!" I believe this song will give you strength for the journey.

  1. Oh yes, I was tempted to rehearse past clutter in my mind today, Nan, but Praise God, he was there to redirect my thinking. Truth always sets us free. Knowing He is here and never forsakes us no matter what, is the strong confident hope we cling to. Thanks for sharing Nan. Hugs!
