Finding God's Presence ~ The Gift of Emptiness

by Nan Jones

My spirit felt like a wrung-out dishrag, twisted and squeezed until the very last drop of strength was gone. It was terrible. I felt tired. Discouraged. Frustrated. I found myself going through the motions, wandering aimlessly through each day.

My heart was empty. I had nothing left to give.

Then Jesus passed by.

The gentleness of His Presence touched me, bidding me to come. I heard His sweet whisper, Come to Me and I will give you rest. You are tired; you are worn, but I am strong. Only I can make you whole once again, but you must press in. You must yield your spirit to Me and allow me to fill you up with my Living Water. When all is lost, you have everything to gain. When you have nothing left, that is when You discover the depth of My compassion, the magnitude of my faithfulness. In your emptiness you will discover the mysteries of My love. Yes, indeed, your emptiness is a gift because in your emptiness you will come to know me like never before.

The gift of emptiness. That's certainly something to consider, isn't it?

I had nothing left to give, and everything to gain.

How about you? Are you too experiencing emptiness - an emptiness that only God can fill? Ask the Lord to open the eyes of your heart to know and understand that you have been given a gift of enormous value.

Open wide, my friend. Open wide and He will fill you.

But more than that, I count everything as loss compared to the priceless privilege and supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord [and of growing more deeply and thoroughly acquainted with Him—a joy unequaled]. For His sake I have lost everything, and I consider it all garbage, so that I may gain Christ." ~ Philippians 3:8, AMP
