Finding God's Presence ~ May We Never Lose the Wonder

by Nan Jones   @NanJonesAuthor

Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child!
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night,
Darkness flees, all is light;
Shepherds hear the angels sing,
"Alleluia! hail the King!"
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born."

Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.

Silent night, holy night,
Wondrous star, lend thy light;
With the angels let us sing
Alleluia to our King;
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born.

"The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty;
He will save
He will rejoice over thee with joy;
He [we] will rest in His love,
He will joy over thee with singing."
~ Zephaniah 3:17

Oh Lord, may we never lose the wonder of Your great love!

  1. I am overcome with a couple of realizations reading these lyrics. First, I never realized how much this song uses light in it to describe Jesus, describe why He came and how He is our light. Second, I know this isn't intentional, but as I look at each stanza, they look like a manger to me. How special is that? Thank you for the reminder of how powerful this song really is and renewing its place in my heart. Merry Christmas sweet friend!
