"How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, 'Your God reigns!'"
(Isaiah 52:7)
This chapter of Isaiah discusses the redemption of Jerusalem after having overthrown Babylon. Tall, majestic mountains surround Jerusalem. During ancient times, watchmen perched on the mountain peaks to safeguard the Israelites against an enemy attack and often called to one another to spread the news.
We are expected to be like those watchmen.
Certainly, we are to be aware of the enemy's tactics and to stand guard over the things of God. But - we are also to proclaim the Good News to a hurting world! God has given us the victory through His Son, Jesus. We cannot - we must not - keep it to ourselves!
How beautiful is he "who proclaims peace."
Peace. Shalom (shah-loam).
We all have our idea of what "peace" means, but "shalom" is so much more. It is much more than the absence of war and conflict. Shalom, in this regard,is referring to the wholeness that people are seeking - the wholeness that people so desperately need.
Friends, we must proclaim His goodness to those around us. Don't hold back. Allow His love to overflow through you into the lives of others. Tell them of their Savior, their Redeemer and Friend.
And proclaim to Zion - the people of God - "Your God reigns!"
Indeed, Lord, You reign!! Thank You, Father! Thank You for Your peace, Your wholeness, Your completeness. Thank You for saving me and filling me to overflowing with Your love. You are the Lord, the King of all the earth! And to think, I know You and You know my name, my deepest thoughts, my sorrows and joys. Father, help me shout it from the mountaintops that Jesus is Lord! Stir a desire within me to intentionally share Your love and goodness with others. Thank You, Lord for Who You are. I love You.
