"Oh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill and to your tabernacle (dwelling place). Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; And on the harp I will praise You, O God, my God."
(Psalm 43:3,4)
The subtitle to this Psalm states, "Prayer to God in Time of Trouble". I love that David recognized his need for God's presence. He recognized his need to give God praise in the midst of the storm.
David asked God to send out His Light and His Truth to lead him into the tabernacle - God's dwelling place. He is asking God to light a way through the darkness. David knows that God's Truth is his stability during uncertain times - he has learned to rely upon, depend upon, the Truth of Who God is. And David also knows that in the Presence of the Lord is joy unspeakable - regardless of his circumstances.
Jesus is OUR Light - He is OUR Truth! Because of Jesus, we too, can go up to the altar of God - into His presence - and be safe. God is our exceeding joy - our great reward.
He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
Praise Your Name, Lord Jesus!! Thank You for Your Light that leads us into all Truth. Thank You for Your Truth that escorts us into Your Presence. Ah, Lord God, Your Presence... Is their any place greater than Your Presence? May we never take Your Presence for granted, Lord. Open our eyes that we might see that YOU are our exceedingly great reward.
