You Are Not Alone

"Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles."
(2 Chronicles 32:7,8)

The king of Assyria, with his great armies, waged war against Jerusalem. The situation looked impossible. The Israelites were out-sized and outnumbered. Fear gripped the people.

But Hezekiah, king of the Israelites, knew the one True God - Jehovah. He encouraged the people, "Be strong. Don't be afraid. The Assyrian king only has flesh to fight for him, but us? We've got the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles!"

And the Israelites, against all natural odds, defeated the Assyrians.

Do you feel outnumbered by your enemies? Are you overwhelmed by their size?

Know this. "If God be for you, who then, can be against you? What can mere man do to you?" (Romans 8:31 and Psalm 118:6)

Hezekiah kept a pure heart before the Lord and could, therefore, call on Him during his time of distress. We, as children of God, through the blood of Jesus Christ, have that same privilege. We can approach the throne of grace boldly and make our requests known to the Father.

Is something worrying you today? Are you staring face-to-face into the glaring and accusing eyes of your enemy?

Beloved, God is with you. You are not alone.

Lord, a day can change in an instant! Out of nowhere comes the enemy's grip, eager to defeat us, to snuff out the Light of faith. Thank you Lord for your faithfulness to defend us, to protect us, to give us victory. When we feel overwhelmed, help us Lord remember to Whom we belong. Remind us to run to You.
